Year Long Reading Challenge – Mrs. Fritsche's Blog

Each 9 weeks students will be required to read 2 books. They may choose whichever books they want but each book must be a different genre.

Genres they are required to read:

Historical Fiction
Poetry
Biography
Classics

The other 4 books may be any of the other genres (mystery, dystopian, graphic novel, realistic fiction, fantasy, sports or adventure).

Each month, they must complete a book review and turn it in for a test grade.

They will also have 4 projects in addition to the book review. (Project Ideas: These are just ideas. Students can also come up with their own as long as they run it by me first)

They will create a project for Historical Fiction, Biography, and a Classic. Then 1 more project for a genre of their choice.

Both book reviews and projects will be due the last week of each 9 weeks.

1st 9weeks due date: October 13th

2nd 9weeks due date: December 20th

3rd 9weeks due date: March 8th

4th 9weeks due date: May 17th

Important Information:

Please be aware that the posting of your student(s) grades will vary according to the subject area ranging from three (3) days to two (2) weeks determined by the complexity of the assignments. Daily assignments: 1-3 days; Major assignments: 3-5 days; Major writing assignments, major projects: 10 days.

ZAP (Zeros Aren’t Permitted)- ZAP will take place Monday-Thursday (unless there is an Athletics event) from 3:30-4:30, in the Think Lab. The purpose of ZAP is to allow students to make-up Zeros, receive help, or simply have a quiet place for homework.
