Tuesday: Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Personification. Vocabulary Quiz over Chapters 1-6 for those that did not make about an 80 last week. This test will be on paper instead of Vocabulary.com. Please Study! Introduce new vocabulary for next few chapters. Read Chapter 7

Wednesday: Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Irony. Study Sync Practice with Figurative Language. Vocabulary Practice.

Thursday: Tone and Mood Lesson. Flocabulary Practice.

Friday: Tone and Mood Activity. Read Chapter 8

Monday: Complete One Pagers. Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Onomatopoeia

Tuesday: Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Personification. Introduce Vocabulary for Novel. Begin packet over background knowledge for novel.

Wednesday:Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Irony. Study Sync Practice with Figurative Language.

Thursday: Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Pun. Tone and Mood Lesson. Flocabulary Practice.

Friday: Figurative Language Mini-Lesson: Allusion. Tone and Mood Activity. Finish working on Background knowledge packet

 

Lesson Plans September 22-27

Monday: JStar Ministries presentation on the dangers of Vaping. Finish Reading 1st 3 chapters of “Freak the Mighty”.

Tuesday: Review Figurative Language. With a partner find examples in the 1st 3 chapters. Read Chapter 5.

Wednesday (1/2 Day): Vocabulary Quiz. Read Chapter 6.

Thursday: Character Traits Lesson

Friday: Test over chapters 5-6. Continue with Character Traits.

ADVANCED

Monday:Begin Holocaust Webquest. We are beginning our unit on the Holocaust. Students will research various aspects of it so they will understand the importance of the setting when they read a pair of novels. The projects/unit will culminate in a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Dallas. I feel it is important for our students to understand how the atrocities of this time period and how we can prevent it from happening in the future.

Tuesday: Continue Holocaust Webquest

Wednesday: 1/2 Day (No 7th period)

Thursday: Complete research. Begin Holocaust One Pager

Friday: Complete One Pager

Monday: Introduce “Freak The Mighty”. Bias activity

Tuesday: “FTM” vocabulary practice. King Arthur introduction to create background knowledge for novel.

Wednesday: Continue King Arthur study.

Thursday: vocabulary practice. Read chapters 1 and 2 of “Freak the Mighty”.

Friday: Take notes on Character Traits. Read Chapter 3
